Good idea + Acts of Faith + God's Energy = Amounts to Something

Faith is a verb. Have you ever thought of that? Many people talk about "having faith" but true faith is lived out. Like 2 Thessalonians 1:11b says, "Pray that he'll fill your good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something" (The Message)

Or to say that in another way.
Good idea + Acts of Faith + God's Energy = Amounts to Something

One of the hardest things for a parent is to see their teens in unsafe or hard situations, yet I've found when they step outside of their comfort zone, and are 100% in need of God's energy to fuel their good ideas, then "faith as a verb" happens.

Four years ago two of my teens traveled to Mexico to build a house for a family. The program is called Homes of Hope. It was a turning point in their faith walk. Maybe you can see way.

Right now is the perfect time to start thinking about a mission trip for Spring Break or the summer. In fact our family has already started planning an August trip to teach at a teen English Camp.

This idea will take ACTS OF FAITH and GOD'S ENERGY to accomplish, but remember:

Good idea + Acts of Faith + God's Energy = Amounts to Something

Question: If you could go on a mission trip with your family...where would you go?? Please comment and let me know!

I would go ANYWHERE! But going to Rwanda is the most desired for me.

Erika, Rwanda would be amazing. Is there a reason God put it on your heart?

We just got home from a family trip to Ghana, to visit Father's House Ghana, a ministry my husband & I co-founded with some friends several years ago. Today, it houses 8 boys who were former slaves on Lake Volta. Taking our children this January to meet the boys they had heard so much about was amazing! You can see God's redemption playing out in their lives, and it is beautiful! I would leave for Ghana with my family again tomorrow if I could! www.FathersHouseGhana.com

My family is very missions-minded! For some of us, Brazil is the ideal mission field, for others, Eastern Europe/Poland/Belarus/Romania are preferred destinations. Actually, we've all been to our "dream" fields, which is why we feel so passionately about the ones we'd like to visit. However, I think we all agree that being led of the Lord and going where HE leads is our true hearts' desire! :D

For some crazy reason, we've been passionate about Poland for years. Our hearts melt over anything in Eastern Europe, but Poland would be our number one choice for a mission trip destination.

Thanks, Tricia! To be clear, we're just a couple of average families who said "yes" to God's call. It was during my years of being "just a mom" that God was preparing me for my part in the ministry we have today. We are humbled and honored to be part of what we see God doing in the lives of 8 boys...and many more to come. Ann, I love that! God put the Czech Republic on my heart the first time I was there. I've been back three times--two of them on mission trips--and we're planning on going back this year! Here is a link to the blog I wrote about that: http://triciagoyer.blogspot.com/2008/02/ask-and-you-may-receive.html

If I could go on a mission trip with my family it would be to Mexico. :) Back when I was in highschool in California, I went on a mission trip to Mexico with our church youth group and it was a life changing week for me. It also placed a love in my heart for Mexico. Since that time I have had a deep longing to return one day. Our oldest children are just now entering their teen years and it has been on heart to look into mission trips to Mexico that we could go on together, as a family. I will have to check out the group you mentioned here. Loved seeing the pictures of your teens in action. :)
